When I was a caregiver, I often wondered how my patients had become so feeble. They were hard working folks who had raised their families, held jobs from the time they were young, and had visited the doctor when they were ill and taken the medications they were prescribed. Was it just old age or genetics that ruined their health? Something they couldn’t choose or was it something more, was it something they had done?

Was there something I could do differently that might keep me from becoming like those I had taken care of?

Each of them took a bottle full of of pills each and every day.

Diabetic Medication so they could eat sugar when they wanted to, Cholesterol medication so they could have bacon, eggs, sausage, and butter, and Blood Pressure medicine so they could have salt.

Oh, there were other random medications but for the most part, these were the ones prescribed by medical professionals.

So is it genetics that mess you up or is it just that you eat like your parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts so your health is like theirs?

The answer is, it depends. And if you don’t have a doctor who is knowledgeable and can help you based on your body, then you will get a generic treatment.

Where do we even start? By making healthy choices in our food!

Many of us are already unhealthy, we just don’t want to face it; to change our stories we can’t live in denial.

Being healthy is a choice, a challenge, and a job. Are you up to it?
